Kristian Duus (DK)

European Investment Bank

Kristian Duus is from Denmark, and the bicycle has been his primary daily means of transport since childhood. In 2008, he stepped into his current role as a Transport Infrastructure Adviser for the European Investment Bank (EIB) based in Vienna. In this position, he focuses particularly on EU-funded road investments in Central European countries under the JASPERS advisory mandate.

Kristian began his career in a consulting firm where he designed bicycle tracks in Copenhagen. His professional journey later took him to Africa for several years with the International Labour Organisation (ILO) and DANIDA. There, he worked on rural accessibility for local road networks, a context where the bicycle frequently served as the crucial "first-mile farm-to-market" means of transport.

Now based in Vienna, Kristian enjoys witnessing and experiencing the city’s rapid development of safe, connected bicycle tracks. Professionally, he is driven by collaborating and engaging in dialogue with people from diverse countries and cultures, all while striving to develop meaningful, people-oriented traffic and transport solutions.
